June Book Review

"The Oxford Illustrated History of Witchcraft & Magic. Edited by Owen Davies

.

Coffee table books may not be for everyone, but I have always found them to be a great introduction and source of information when exploring a subject

.

Owen Davies is a name that I will bring up multiple times over these reviews because I have found his writings accessible and highly educational (we can talk more about his credentials at a later date). Here, Davies has acted as author and editor for this richly detailed and illustrated history. Beginning with the invention of writing in the ancient world, multiple authors explore a wide range of magical beliefs & practices, the rise of the witch trials and the more recent history; from Enlightenment to the present day

.

It may not hold completely new information for those of you already with a deep knowledge, however, I challenge anyone to read this and not find it engrossing and interesting. A great addition to any library, it's a wonderful starting point to help you discover more about this vast history and how it has evolved."
