Imbolc

Imbolc is a Gaelic festival that marks the beginning of spring, celebrated on 1st Feb it is the halfway point between the winter solstice and the summer equinox. Imbolc is also known as Brigid's day, a day where you honour saint Brigid with feasts and offerings in return for protection of your home and livestock.

Traditionally a visit to a sacred well followed by a feast and leaving out offerings and items to be blessed was the way people celebrated this sabat but seeing as there is a distinct lack of sacred wells in these modern times then we have come up with other ways to honour saint Brigid and the coming of spring.

*Light candles (Yellow, White and Green are great if you have them).

* Read and research about the sabat to better understand its meaning and origins.

* Have a relaxing sea salt bath.

* Meditate with Amethyst.

* Have a feast with freshly made bread.

* Decorate your altar.

* Get out side in nature and take note of the first signs of spring.

* Have a spring clean and write a spring "to do" list.

As always your celebration can be as elaborate or as simple as you like, i personally will be baking some bread and walking in nature. I love foraging so ill be looking for 3 cornered leek to make a garlic butter with to spread on my bread. Let us know what you like to do when you celebrate on the fb page. we love hearing your stories and seeing your wonderful pictures.
